Ange Postecoglou takes his first seat in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout as the Lilywhites host Shakhtar Donetsk in their penultimate friendly on Sunday. The charity match will collect donations for the people of Ukraine in the midst of Russia's continuing invasion, but Tottenham may also use the opportunity to mend fences with Shakhtar following the contentious Manor Solomon transfer. Predictions for the game Before Bayern Munich executives arrived in North London, hoping to find common ground with cutthroat Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy – but failing – the Bavarians' main target Harry Kane did what he does best in Singapore, propelling Spurs to their opening pre-season victory on July 26.

After a potential meeting with Roma fell through, Postecoglou won his first game as Tottenham manager with a 5-1 thrashing of Lion City Sailors, in which Kane started his pre-season account with a Richarlison hat-trick and a Giovani Lo Celso score.
Tottenham's demolition of Singapore was only their second exhibition game of the summer, following their opening 3-2 defeat to West Ham United, as torrid conditions forced the late postponement of their clash with Leicester City in Thailand, forcing Spurs to play two friendlies in as many days.
Following Sunday's game, Postecoglou's team will travel to Catalonia to face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy final before returning home to begin a new Premier League era away to London rivals Brentford on August 13.

The popular Kane is said to have decided to stay in Tottenham if Bayern Munich do not reach an agreement for his signature before Spurs' Premier League opener, but the Lilywhites will soon welcome 19-year-old Rosario Central striker Alejo Veliz, who will join Postecoglou's attacking ranks alongside former Shakhtar wing king Solomon.
As the conflict in Eastern Europe continues, Shakhtar were helpless to stop a FIFA judgement that allowed Solomon, who had a brief period of success during a loan stay with Fulham last season, to suspend his contract and go on a free transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin famously threatened Tottenham with legal action if they brought Solomon back to the Premier League, but any squabbles over transfers should not detract from the occasion this weekend, as the visitors raise funds for their charitable foundation 'Shakhtar Social' to help those affected by the devastating war.

While there was no Ukrainian Cup or Ukrainian Super Cup last season, Shakhtar once again reaffirmed their dominance in the first division, winning their 14th title with 72 points, finishing five points ahead of Dnipro-1 and Zorya Luhansk.

As a result, another Champions League group-stage spot awaits after Shakhtar fell at the first hurdle in last year's competition - but not without a 4-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig - and Patrick van Leeuwen's side has already taken four points from their first two Ukrainian Premier League fixtures this season.
Tottenham and Shakhtar will renew hostilities 14 years after their first encounter in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup last 16, when the Ukrainian giants surged to a 2-0 first-leg triumph, and a 1-1 home draw seven days later was insufficient to save Spurs' European bacon.
